Vengeance of a Fett
- All hell had broken loose. The Jedi Temple was in flames and the Force
contorted around as more and more Jedi died in the onslaught. Anakin Skywalker,
having fallen to the Dark, now calls himself Darth Vader. His ominous black
frame stalks the halls of the temple killing anyone he finds, even the children
adepts. The Chancellor has revealed himself to be a Master Sith and is running
his army rampant across the city.
- Mace Windu, Jedi Master, sprinted down the corridor, heading towards
the docking bay to escape. He knew there was no chance he could last alone and
he had done all he could. The other Jedi had almost all fled. As he pushed
through the billowing smoke his lightsaber cast an eerie shade of purple against
the walls. Very few lights remained on as the Temple slowly fell in on it's
self. Reaching an opening leading to the docking bay Mace slid to a stop as he
felt a presence in the Force. Stopping he saw where it originated.
- Flames illuminated the silhouette of a dome and what seemed to be half
of a T reflected the inferno. Jango Fett? Impossible! Mace lowered his
lightsaber fearing it was only an apparition. Jango Fett had died on Geonosis.
Decapitation by lightsaber. His own lightsaber.
- "Identify yourself!" Mace's voice boomed over the crackling of the
flames. The figure stood in the darkness as the reflection of flames danced in
the partial T.
- "I repeat, identify-"
- "No need to repeat Master Jedi, I can hear you. I still have my head."
The voice filtered through the helmet with an icy tone of sarcasm.
- "Jango-" Mace whispered to himself dumbfounded.
- "No! He is dead. You killed my father back on Geonosis. I am Boba
Fett." The figure stepped out of the shadows revealing his form. He wore the
Mandalorian armor of Jango Fett but it was slightly altered. Very little of the
original Silver and Blue remained. A majority of the suit was rust colored, white
and green. Instead of the lightning fast twin blasters he carried a heavy
disintegrating blaster rifle.
- Searching through the Force Mace realized a strange aura surrounding
Boba Fett. He seemed almost exactly as his father yet there seemed to be a
slight change in the presence. Almost like the Clone Troopers Mace had led before.
- "A clone-" Mace whispered once again unsure of what was before him.
Before he could completely register the sight Fett strafed to the right
unleashing a barrage of deadly blaster bolts. Quickly deflecting them Mace moved
forward in a defensive position. Firing bolt after bolt Boba Fett actually moved
into the flames singeing a tattered rope tied around his waist.
- Mace continued to deflect the shots but they merely smashed into the
wall right behind Fett as he moved closer and fired more. Swinging his purple
blade to destroy the rifle Boba ducked down to avoid the move. For a brief
second Mace stared almost through the helmet, the purple glare, and into Boba's
eyes. For a brief moment he was on Geonosis staring at Jango Fett, but this
time there would be no decapitation. Fett brought the butt of the rifle into
Mace's chin knocking him backwards. Firing his whipcord Mace was caught around the
knees and tumbled to the floor. His lightsaber clattered away from him
towards the docking bay doors.
- Boba Fett eased slightly before Mace suddenly used the force recalling
his lightsaber and slashing the whipcord. Springing to his feet he rushed at
Fett lightsaber high above his head. Swinging hard and with the intent to kill
the purple blade came across Boba's chest. Jumping back the blade grazed his
armor leaving a gray burn mark, a near miss. Suddenly time seemed to slow and
Windu's back was left unguarded.
- Bringing his rifle up Boba unleashed a volley of bolts into Mace's
back. Falling straight onto the floor the Jedi's body slid across the slick
surface almost reaching the bay doors. The lightsaber, deactivated, clattered into
the flames. Rolling over Mace looked up into the helmet of Boba. For a brief
second he saw the face of Jango Fett, taking his revenge. The image faded as he
saw the muzzle of the rifle pointed at his face.
- "You're worth more to me dead." In a flash the Jedi departed and
ascended into the realm of the Force. A sudden surge of feeling flashed though
Boba's body as he watched the Jedi die. The vengeance he vowed on Geonosis as he
held the helmet of his father had been fulfilled.
- Still staring down at the body of the dead Jedi the docking bay doors
slid open revealing the tall figured of Darth Vader. Looking up Boba saw the
carnage behind him. Jedi lay on the floor with various wounds and missing
limbs. Flames erupted from destroyed Jedi Starfighters and their droids suffered a
similar fate. Smoke billowed out of the hanger into the Coruscant night sky.
- "I thought I informed you that I wished to deal with the members of
the Jedi Council myself, Bounty Hunter." The doors slid shut again as the
gravely mechanical voice of Vader's voice synthesizer echoed throughout the
chamber. Grabbing his rifle muzzle Fett merely stared at the Sith. Raising his
scarlet light saber a bit higher Vader spoke again with more authority and anger.
- "Did I not inform you of this?" Fett nodded his features lit on both
sides by a bright red and a fiery orange.
- "I specifically asked for no disintegrations, Bounty Hunter."
- "You'll have to remind me next time." His voice came through with an
icy calm. Vader merely stared forward raising his free hand. Without even
looking into the direction of Mace's lightsaber he called it to his hand. A small
bit of smoke rose up from Vader's black gloves before he placed it on his belt.
Several other saber's hilts hung beside it. At this sight Fett knew there was
more behind the slaughtering of the Jedi then just orders. Vader had a
personal vendetta just as he did against Windu. Deactivating his own lightsaber
Vader turned back towards the docking bay door and opened them.
- "I will." Vader passed through the door with these words before
allowing the doors to close on Fett. Boba sat staring at these doors in only the
light of the flames for quite some time. Thinking, reflecting. There was more to
this Vader character then there seemed to be.
- In a way, they really weren't all that different.
